Shklov. Monument to Cucumber.

Interestingly, the Cucumber Monument in Shklov not only serves as a symbol of the region, but also attracts the attention of tourists, creating a unique atmosphere.

Cucumber appears in front of pedestrians dressed in fancy clothes: a vest with pockets and a bow tie, boots. He holds a basket in his left hand and a flower in his right, which means that he is not old at all. This unusual monument is located near the local House of Culture, opposite the city park. The legend that rubbing a cucumber pocket can attract good luck only adds to the attractiveness of this place. A lot of people are photographed near the monument.

  Cucumber Day on August 8 is a real holiday for the residents of Shklov, where fairs with a variety of cucumber treats are held. They sell not only fresh cucumbers, but also salted, pickled and even cucumber compote, which creates a unique connecting thread between the culture, traditions and gastronomy of this region.

In addition to Shklov, cucumber monuments can be found in the town of Lukhovitsy (Russia) and in the agro-town of Olshany, Stolin district, which indicates the wide popularity of this vegetable in various parts of Belarus and Russia.

The sculpture of a Cucumber, the author of the monument to Andrey Vorobyov, has become not just a work of art, but also a symbol of unity and pride for local residents.
