City Hall in Minsk.

The Minsk City Hall is remembered at the beginning of the 17th century, that it stood on the High Market Square, today's Freedom Square. The magistrate sat in the town hall, and the units of measure of weight and volume adopted in the city were also kept. During its existence, the building was rebuilt several times. The first city clock was located on the town hall tower. By the 19th century, the town hall had the appearance of a building in the style of classicism: two-story brick, rectangular in plan, the facade and ends are decorated with 4-column porticoes of the Ionic order. The decorative decoration was complemented by wrought-iron balcony fences. In the late 18th and early 19th centuries, the town hall housed the magistrate, police station, court, police and city archives, and in the 1830s a music school. Then a theater also worked here. Already in 1857, by order of Tsar Nicholas I, the town hall was demolished. During the archaeological excavations in 1978 and 1988, it was established that the town hall was built mainly from small-sized glove bricks in the technique of mixed masonry with the use of stones.

In 2002-2003, the town hall was restored. During construction, old drawings and drawings were used. Now it is mainly used for receiving guests of honor. A clock and coat of arms of Minsk are installed on the 32-meter tower with a weather vane. The clock on the tower of the town hall strikes the melody of the chorus "Songs about Minsk" every hour for 19 seconds to the music of the composer Igor Luchenko.
