The Museum of Local Lore of the city of Yelsk.
Over the years, the museum has become a treasure trove of the region's history.
The central place in its exposition is devoted to the theme of the Great Patriotic War. Here you can see photographs and archival materials telling about the contribution of Yelsk residents to the military events, their participation in the partisan movement and resistance to fascism.
A special feature of the Yelsk Museum of Local Lore is the permanent exhibition of works by Mikhail Zasinets, an artist born in the Yelsk district, whose work is a significant phenomenon in Belarusian culture. To date, the museum's collection includes 65 of his paintings.
In addition, the museum has a nature hall, which demonstrates the flora and fauna of the region, which is of particular interest to children.
Visitors are also attracted by the objects of the ethnographic collection, reflecting the development of crafts in the Yelsk district.
The museum staff has developed guided tours "Roads of War" and "Yelsk landscapes", which can be used by guests and residents of the area.
The main task of the museum today is to collect, store and promote the historical and cultural heritage of the region.
