The Church of the Holy Trinity in Yelsk is a monument of wooden architecture with features of classicism.

An interesting legend is connected with the construction of the church. In 1757, the peasant Ivan Didko was looking for his missing oxen. After a long search, he came across a herd surrounding an icon of the Mother of God glowing on a pear tree. They decided to build a temple on the place where this icon was found. The icon was known for numerous healings, but was destroyed in Soviet times. Currently, the church houses an exact replica of this miraculous icon, and, according to parishioners, it has healing powers. This is the miraculous Vaskovsko-Yelskaya icon of the Mother of God.

The temple is a structure with five log cabins and a cross dome. The central part, made in the form of an octagon (23 meters long, 14 meters wide and 11.8 meters high), is topped by a massive octagon with a dome. The rectangular vestibule and faceted log cabins of the altar and side rooms are covered with gable roofs with hip flaps at the ends. The walls are finished with vertical boards and equipped with windows with semicircular tops.

The interior is characterized by a two-light architecture and ends with a faceted hipped roof. The side rooms open through wide openings. The choirs located above the vestibule create additional space. The apse is decorated with a wooden iconostasis, giving the interior a special expressiveness. In 1870, a wooden bell tower was added to the church.

Yelskaya Holy Trinity Church remained active all the time after its foundation. It was only before the Great Patriotic War that it was closed and turned into a grain warehouse.

However, in 1943, the church reopened and became operational.

In 2014, the church received a gift from parishioners of five long-sounding cast bells of different sizes.

It is a beautiful ancient temple with a well-maintained territory. The oldest building in the city. The church is constantly being renovated, so it looks very good, and a Sunday school has been built nearby.
