The lakes and surrounding areas are often called "Belarusian Switzerland" because of the unusual and picturesque nature of these places. This unique territory is included in the landscape of the Narochansky Nature Reserve of national significance.
13 lakes forming a group of "Blue lakes" appeared as a result of melting glaciers, and are located among pine-spruce forests.

Ecological trail "Blue Lakes".

All lakes in this group have a relatively small area. There are three really large reservoirs in the group. Glublya, Bolduc, Mertvoe (Dead).

Active tourism began here after 1972. It was then that the Blue Lakes Nature Reserve was established on this territory. Later, it joined the Narochansky National Park, and the trail connecting the Blue Lakes has become a popular tourist route to this day.

Blue Lakes is a unique hilly-lake natural complex of the Belarusian Lake district: high hills interspersed with deep lake basins.

Here, in the area of the village of Olshevo, there is an ecological trail of the National Park. The route of the ecological trail includes equipped viewing platforms, recreation areas, wooden sculptural compositions. There are signs all along the trail. The route is 4 km and 7 km long and includes all 13 reservoirs. It passes through highly rugged terrain: the Ozovaya ridge, coniferous forest along the shores of picturesque lakes, through the Stracha River and channels, along a swampy area.

Along the way, you can explore three lakes. Glublya Lake stands out in summer in sunny weather for its clear water with a bluish-green hue. It is connected by a small stream to another extraordinarily beautiful and unique lake Glubelka, the water at its bottom has not mixed with the surface water for several thousand years. The yellowish-brown color of Mertvoe Lake is caused by runoff from the marshy shores.

The most exciting thing on this route is:

  • the Stracha River in the valley and at the foot of the Ozovaya Ridge;
  • Bald Mountain hilltop observation deck;
  • the unforgettable beauty of the Glublya and Glubelka lakes, and the mysterious Mertvoe Lake;
  • wish fulfillment pine "Old Monk";
  • traces of wild animal activity and a feeding area for ungulates;
  • In spring, there are glades of anemone (snowdrops), dream grasses, and lilies of the valley.

Most of the Blue Lakes natural complex is located in a protected area, so you can travel here only along designated routes. It is forbidden to park cars, light bonfires and set up tents on the territory of the ecological trail.

The ecological trail also includes the territories of "Olshevsky beach", "Grumbinentsky beach".

Blue lakes are an extraordinary natural attraction capable of conquering the heart of any person. Unforgettable landscapes, interesting and informative excursions will not leave anyone indifferent!
