The mysterious Dead Lake.

The peculiarity of the Dead Lake is that the water in it does not mix, and because of this, its different layers differ in their saturation with minerals.  In addition, the water in the lake is not blue, but almost black.

The lake looks mysterious and it is no coincidence that it is shrouded in legends and mystical stories. There is a legend that in ancient times, mermaids (lake girls) lived in this lake. And at the bottom of the lake there were healing springs. People came here, including warriors who needed to heal. Ozernitsy did not offend people. One day drunken Cossacks came to the lake, who mocked the women of the lake. In response to the outrages of the Cossacks, the guardians of the lake raised the water in the reservoir and demolished their camp. Since then, they no longer believe people and do not accept them into their lake.

According to another legend, Vikings buried their dead warriors in the lake. Now it can even get bad at this place, especially if you try to cross the lake by boat.

It is also believed that it is called dead because there are no fish in the lake, and there are no animals or reptiles or insects, even MOSQUITOES, on its shores. You can't even hear the birds singing here. However, scientists explain the absence of all living things differently.:  It is the hydrogen sulfide cushion located at the bottom of the lake and its evaporation that kills life here. However, there is still life in the lake: small fish are found in the upper layers of the water, and water lilies are found near the shore, blooming in the second half of summer. On the swampy shores of the Dead Lake, you can see an interesting sundew plant that has the ability to catch and digest insects.

Tourists traveling in these places note the strong energy of the mysterious Dead Lake. The tourist route starts from a guarded parking lot. It is equipped with signs, information stands and viewing platforms. Visitors are greeted by wooden sculptures. The place is simply mesmerizing in its beauty - a mixed forest, clean, remote from civilization, hilly terrain, clear fresh air. Since the lake is located on the territory of a National Park, a number of rules should be observed when visiting it. It is forbidden to set up tents, park cars, and build bonfires on the shores of the lake. It is allowed to collect mushrooms and berries for personal use.

In the Blue Lakes landscape Reserve, created in 1972 to preserve a unique complex called "Belarusian Switzerland" in the Belarusian Lake district, in addition to Dead Lake, includes a whole group of Myadel lakes. Here you can get a fishing permit, relax in the fresh air surrounded by majestic nature, swim, camp overnight, walk along ecological routes and get real pleasure from communicating with the local nature. Rest here will not leave anyone indifferent!
