The old settlement in the agro-town of Chereya.

In the 19th century, archaeologist Evdokim Romanov discovered this fortified settlement located near Chereya. In the past, this area was surrounded by a water system connecting Lake Chereyskoye with Lake Lukomlskoe and other nearby lakes such as Moshno, Chernoe, Golovlya and Zolotino.

It is assumed that the settlement arose during the Early Iron Age or even the Stone Age. Initially, people probably sought refuge outside its walls only during times of danger.

Over time, a settlement was formed here with streets, temples, residential and commercial buildings, trading yards and warehouses.

Currently, the distance to Lake Chereyskoye is just over a kilometer. At the top of the hill, among the trees, there is a cemetery. The ascent to the eight-meter height is carried out by stairs laid along the hillside slightly to the left of the road.

This is an interesting historical place. The nature around you and the silence are conducive to peace.

I recommend you to visit here for lovers of history and nature.
