Belaya Tserkov. The singing forest "Sad Orchestra".
Landmark
Belarus, Vitebsk region, Chashnik district, Belaya Tserkov village
Description
An amazing and unusual place on the peninsula in the village of Belaya Tserkov (White Church) is the "Singing Forest": mysterious sounds, unusual installations, speakers and cans on tree branches – all this makes an indelible impression. By turning a lever on one of the trees, you will hear music and even a human voice. "Singing Trees" is part of the Sad Orchestra memorial project created by Matvey Saburov, known for the iconic Sprava festival, which takes place in the same area on the shores of Lake Chereiskoe. Each tree here is a kind of monument to a musician or cultural figure associated with a festival that no longer exists in this world.

Sad Orchestra Memorial Trees
Each tree in the "Singing Forest" is a kind of monument to a musician or cultural figure associated with a festival that no longer exists in this world. Sad Orchestra has already immortalized the memory of drummer Artyom Zalessky, avant-garde guitarist Leonid Narushevich and director Alexei Strelnikov.
This project is an attempt to accept death and an important point for analyzing life. The Sad Orchestra memorial trees are equipped with a microcomputer, speaker and motion sensors powered by a solar battery. When a person approaches a tree, it starts playing music and "jamming" with other trees.
The music is based on the works of musicians, as well as voice messages from the director of the event. The trees "improvise" by playing with each other and creating a unique melody each time. They even know how to adjust to each other quite well for trees.
The implementation of the project requires complex technical solutions and the work of an entire team of engineers. Listeners can join the concert by playing a drum connected to the Artyom Zalessky tree, and these sounds will become part of the overall soundtrack.
In the future, the garden will be replenished with trees in memory of other departed Belarusian artists.
The development of this project depends on further financing.
