Baranovichi. Railway Museum.

The Railway Museum in Baranovichi, opened in 1999, has become a real decoration of the city and attracts many visitors. The city of Baranovichi itself owes its appearance to the railway. In 1871, a rail line was built in the direction of Smolensk-Brest, along which numerous stations were built. It was around one of these large stations that the city arose, which today is a major industrial and cultural center of Belarus. The Baranovichi Museum is one of the first owners of such exhibitions in the country.

The history of the museum begins in 1984, when the public museum of the Baranovichi Railway branch was opened here. Four years later, the exposition ceased to be public, and the museum became part of the Belarusian Railway. In 1999, a special department was created on the basis of the museum, which oversees railway equipment. By the end of the 20th century, the museum was considered the largest in Belarus and was located in the open air.

The entrance to the Baranovichi Museum is decorated with a steam locomotive of the "B" series. This locomotive passed for the first time along the new Smolensk-Brest highway. In the museum, you can get acquainted with the layout of the exhibitions, since the collection is so extensive that visitors can get lost. There are steam locomotives, diesel locomotives, passenger and freight trains of various operating times, models of platforms and trolleys, all kinds of devices for supplying water to steam locomotives, equipment for repairing tracks and many other interesting exhibits.

A visit to the Museum of Railway Equipment in Baranovichi will be an exciting event not only for specialists, but also for ordinary people. Here you can learn about the development of rail transport in Belarus, get acquainted with the daily life and work of railway workers. You will be able to truly experience the power and beauty of massive machinery and expand your knowledge of rail transport.

The museum presents truly unique exhibits. Most of the equipment on display in the museum can only be seen in illustrations in textbooks, so the museum is often visited by excursions from other regions. In the Baranovichi Museum, you can get acquainted with many unique and original ideas embodied in the construction of rails. The museum is constantly being updated with new equipment and is increasing.
