An interesting atmospheric house in a picturesque place!
The name of Tadeusz Kosciuszko is known all over the world. He is a national hero not only of Belarus, but also of Poland, the USA, and an honorary citizen of France.
The famous military and political figure was born in the small estate of Merekhovshchina near Kossovo. And it was here that he spent the first 9 years of his life.
Tadeusz Kosciuszko received a very good education. First, he studied at the school of the monastic order of Piars in the city of Lubyashev, Pinsk district. Then he graduated with honors from the cadet corps in Warsaw, and then studied military affairs in Paris.
Kosciuszko became famous as a tireless fighter for freedom from slavery, colonial dependence, and serfdom. For 7 years, he was in the ranks of volunteers fighting for the independence of the United States. After the victory of the United States in the war, Kosciuszko was awarded the rank of brigadier general.
Upon returning to his homeland, Kosciuszko, trying to save the independence of the state and supporting the Constitution of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, led the uprising of 1794.
After the death of T. Kosciuszko's father, Merechevshchina became part of the Puslovsky palace and park complex.
In 1942, Kosciuszko's house burned down in a fire. In 1987, a stone with a memorial plaque was installed here, which mentioned that this estate was the small birthplace of T. Kosciuszko. In 2001, archaeologists carried out excavations and discovered the foundation and basement of a residential building. Large-scale work was carried out on this foundation - the estate was restored and a memorial museum was created.
Today, the Tadeusz Kosciuszko Estate Museum is popular with tourists, attracting visitors with its rich history.
The museum's exposition presents weapons, household items, and building materials found during archaeological excavations. We see household items from the 17th to 19th centuries, clothing, ancient coins and paper banknotes with the image of T. Kosciuszko himself, as well as his personal belongings and documents. The estate is divided into two parts: a historical part, which recreates the life of the Kosciuszko family, and a memorial part, which includes information and materials about the national hero.
An interesting atmospheric house in a picturesque place! The exhibits perfectly create a general idea of the life of the Belarusian gentry at that time, and also fully acquaint us with the life path of the historical figure Kosciuszko.
