Description
In our country, it is considered that there is nothing to see in Baranovichy. But this is a misconception. There is a unique Orthodox Pokrovsky church with mosaics, a museum of railway transport and other interesting objects. A significant place in the history of the city is occupied by the Church of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross.

Baranovichy. Church of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross.
The city of Baranovichy itself is relatively young. It began to develop rapidly at the end of the 19th century, when the railway passed here. Therefore, most of the architectural monuments were built at the beginning of the 20th century. During the Polish era, the Orthodox Pokrovsky Church was erected in the center of the city, which is decorated with unique mosaics. The mosaics were transferred from the Orthodox church in Warsaw. And not far from the church, on the same Kuibysheva street, there is a small but very beautiful wooden church of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross. The church is considered the oldest Catholic church in Baranovichy. In 1911, a Catholic parish was organized in the city. Father Lucian Zhalandkowski created a committee for the construction of the church in 1923 and the church was built in 1924.
The Church of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross is a monument of eclectic architecture, and here there is something from the Gothic and something from the Baroque. The three-nave basilica turns into a pentagonal apse. The dynamism of the temple is given by the height difference of the naves. On the main facade is a multi-figure tower on an 8-sided drum. The interior has an altar with 4 columns and icons painted in the early 20th century. A brick gate was built in front of the church.
