Description
The railway station, which later became known as Baranovichi-Polessky, was built in 1884. Due to the passage of two independent lines through it, the station quickly became an important railway hub. In the post-war period, Baranovichi-Polessky was restored, and today it is the busiest station in the city in terms of the number of passengers and trains, despite the presence of another station, Baranovichi-Tsentralnye.

Baranovichi-Polessky railway station.
In 1884, 3 kilometers from the Baranovichi station of the Moscow-Brest Railway, the Novye Baranovichi station of the Vilno-Rovno railway was opened, which later also became known as Baranovichi-Polessky. A wooden passenger station building was built at this station. Since that time, Baranovichi began to develop rapidly, turning from a small town into a city. A 3 km long connecting line was built between the stations of Baranovichi-Polessky and Baranovichi of the Moscow-Brest road.
In 1899, the wooden station building was replaced by a brick one. The new building was equipped with steam heating, which significantly improved the conditions for passengers.
Since August 1914, during the First World War, the Headquarters of the Supreme Commander was located in Baranovichi, which was visited several times by Emperor Nicholas II, who stayed there for a total of two months.
During the Great Patriotic War, the Baranovichi-Polessky railway station was destroyed. After the liberation of the city in 1944, reconstruction work began.
The Baranovichi-Polessky railway station has repeatedly served as a filming location. In the 1970s, the Soviet serial film "Ruins are shooting ..." was created here, telling about the Minsk underground. In 1982, it was chosen to produce the television series "State Border" and for a short time it was transformed into a railway station in the Chinese city of Harbin.
In recognition of the merits of the railway in the formation of the city, a steam locomotive is depicted on the coat of arms of Baranovichi, and a monument steam locomotive is installed on the forecourt of the Baranovichi-Polessky railway station. There is also a monument steam locomotive on the territory of the station, which serves as a reminder of the rich history of this important transport hub.
