Description
The small village of Bakhmaty in the Lida district is located in the middle of nowhere and it is not easy to get here. It is better to drive at a time when the roads are not blurred.
On the outskirts of the village, there is a small wooden Catholic chapel in the local cemetery, which has a history of more than a century. The church was consecrated in honor of Our Lady of the Angels. The chapel has a communal building with three altars in the interior. The temple is functioning.

Bakhmaty. Chapel of Our Lady of the Angels.
Between Berezovka and Tarnovo in the Lida district there is a small village of Bakhmaty, where there is a wooden chapel of Our Lady of the Angels.
The village is located on the Bakhmatka river and, unfortunately, this village is now dying out and there are about 10 residents left here.
The Bakhmaty have been known since about the 18th century and were the property of Bishop Ignatius Masalsky of Vilna and were part of the Lida district as part of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania. After the third partition, the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth was part of the Russian Empire. During the First World War, since 1915, under German occupation. Since 1921, under the Polish state. Since 1939, it has been part of Soviet Belarus.
The chapel was built in the local cemetery on the outskirts of the village in 1919. The building is wooden, of a residential type. A vestibule is attached to the prayer hall. A small wooden quadrangle tower with a spire and a cross is built above the nave. The interior has three altars, which are decorated in the Neoclassical style using the Doric order.
In recent years, white brick additions have been made to the chapel, which significantly violated the artistic value and architectural composition. The chapel is in operation.
