Streshin. Holy Protection Church.
The best way to get to Streshin is through Zhlobin along the Dnieper. The Pokrovskaya Church is built on the outskirts of the village, not far from the settlement, an archaeological site on the river bank. According to historians, a wooden castle surrounded by an earthen rampart was built in Streshin in the 12th century, and the town itself arose next to the castle.
The church was built in the classical style in 1807. During the Soviet era, the church was closed. When the Soviet Union collapsed in 1898, the church was given to Orthodox believers. The church was restored. The church is active.
The building is square in plan. The temple is centric. The corners of the main volume are cut off. A semicircular apse was added to the east of the temple. There are three high brick staircases. The main volume of the prayer hall is covered with a spherical dome. The church has five towers with hemispherical domes. The church has a crypt with a staircase.
After visiting the temple, you should head towards the Dnieper, where you will see an archaeological monument - an ancient settlement, and the extraordinary beauty of the Dnieper floodplain. There is a place equipped for rest and you can stop to have a snack in the fresh air and take photos.
