Zhlobin. Trinity Cathedral.

The Church of the Holy Life-Giving Trinity, also known as the Trinity Cathedral, is one of the two cathedrals of the Gomel Diocese. The Life—giving Trinity is a God who exists in three persons, giving life, and such high sanctification is inherent in this temple.

A special location was chosen for the construction of the temple — the highest point of the Dnieper River. The cathedral was built in 1880 on the site where the Holy Cross Church used to stand, a small wooden one that burned down along with most of the city during a terrible fire.

In 1932, at the height of the country's anti-God policy, tragedy struck: the then rector of the church, Father Adam Zhinovich, was arrested and repressed. It was not possible to find a replacement for him, the services stopped, and the temple, located on land where Christian communities had existed since the 11th century, remained empty and inactive. The building was used to store state archives.

In 1941, at the beginning of the Great Patriotic War, the temple was in the line of fire. The bright golden domes of the church became a good target for the Nazi invaders. To weaken the targeted fire of enemy aircraft and artillery, the Red Army commanders decided to blow up the temple. However, the holy church resisted destruction for a long time — three attempts were made to blow up the solid walls, but they could not completely succeed. The domes fell, but the temple remained standing, partially destroyed. After the end of the war, part of the temple was dismantled for building materials.

At the end of the 20th century, the revival of the Zhlobinsky Holy Trinity Parish began. The rector was 33-year-old Archpriest Vasily Pilipenko, who already had more than one restored church. In the autumn of 1992, a stone was laid for the construction of a new church in almost the same place where the old one, destroyed in 1941, stood.

The church was consecrated in 1995. Metropolitan Filaret of Minsk and Slutsk, Patriarchal Exarch of All Belarus, took part in this important event. His Holiness Patriarch Alexy II awarded the builders of the temple with high church awards, and Archpriest Vasily Pilipenko was awarded a mitre.

Parishioners love their church. They grew a beautiful garden on the church grounds, organized a Sunday school for children through the efforts of the faithful, and also opened an icon painting school for spiritual painting. There is an Orthodox public library in the church.
