Holy Cross Church in Svetlogorsk.

The Church of the Ascension of the Holy Cross in Svetlogorsk is located on the banks of the Berezina River. The first mention of a Catholic church in this settlement, which used to be called Shatilki, dates back to the middle of the 17th century. Since then, the temple has been repeatedly rebuilt.

The first church burned down in 1812. In 1818, it was replaced by the Church of the Holy Cross. However, due to the dilapidated state of this building, a new church was erected in 1906 with the support of the landowner Tyshkevich. This new church had an organ, the sound of which could be heard even on the territory of the Ilenpol estate, where Lazo Street is now located.

In 1936, the authorities closed the church in Shatilki, followed by the destruction of its structure and used it to build a collective farm club.

The modern red brick building appeared in 1997 and is an example of Neo-Gothic architecture. The consecration of the new church took place on September 6, 1997, it was conducted by Cardinal Kazimierz Sventak. Sergey Pevny became the architect of the project, and two tall towers with hipped roofs became the main decoration of the facade.

This is a very beautiful church that attracts the attention of city visitors and tourists.
