Description

There was not a single church in Soligorsk until 2000. In 1994, the architectural complex was designed. The architectural project was based on the temples of Belarus, in particular, the Principality of Turov. Their main difference from the Moscow and St. Petersburg architectural schools is the helmet-shaped domes. The project of the Soligorsk complex was awarded the first place at an international competition in Bulgaria. The Cathedral in Soligorsk has been under construction for more than 20 years and today it is the largest Orthodox church in the Minsk region and southern Belarus.

Cathedral of the Nativity of Christ.

The temple is located in the very center of the city of Soligorsk. The capsule with the message was laid at the foundation of the future cathedral by Metropolitan Filaret on April 7, 2010, at the Annunciation. The cathedral complex includes The Cathedral of the Nativity of our Lord God and Savior Jesus Christ, the Church of the Nativity of Our Most Holy Lady Theotokos, the Crypt Church of the Nativity of the honorable and glorious Prophet John the Baptist.

The area of the complex is 3,500 m2. The cathedral was illuminated in 2017. Cathedral The complex also includes a Sunday school building, a refectory with a bell tower, a charity refectory, a church history museum, and a rehabilitation center. 4,000 people can stay inside the cathedral during the service.

The height of the temple is 60 m, the belfry has 13 bells with a total weight of 7 tons. The main bell weighs 3,200 kg. A three-meter-high cross has been erected on the central dome of the cathedral.

Inside the Cathedral there are unique icons, as well as other elements of church art that reflect the rich spiritual, national and historical life of the region.

In the Cathedral of the Nativity The following shrines are located in Christ's Church: a copy of the icon of the Mother of God "Mammalian", a copy of the Iveron Icon of the Mother of God,

a particle of the relics of the Apostle Andrew the First-Called, a particle of the relics of the myrrh-bearing equal-to-the-Apostles Mary Magdalene, a particle of the relics of the holy Martyr Johnouarius, Bishop of Benevento, the oldest icon of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker from the Burazeri cell at the monastery on Mount Athos, a particle of the relics of the righteous Sophia, and the Princess of Slutsk, as well as the tomb in which the righteous Sophia of Slutsk stayed in 1941-1981.

The Cathedral has created an atmosphere of solitude and support for all those who seek solace and inspiration. Social projects aimed at supporting people with disabilities, orphaned children, single and poor citizens are carried out here.

On the territory of the cathedral there is a recreation and walking area for all residents of Soligorsk. The council's activities create an opportunity for the development of youth ministry and qualified educational work with children and adolescents.

The Cathedral in Soligorsk is a symbol of faith and unity of the city's inhabitants.
