Museum of Ethnography.

In order to acquaint residents and visitors of the city with an extensive collection of ethnographic exhibits reflecting the history of Slutsk, as well as to popularize the cultural heritage, in 2001 a branch of the Slutsk Museum of Local Lore was established, dedicated to the life and occupations of the peasants of Slutsk county in the XIX – early XX centuries.

In 2006, due to the intensification of exhibition activities, the branch was transformed into the Museum of Ethnography by the decision of the district executive committee.

Visitors to the museum can appreciate the beauty of national costumes, see ancient household items, as well as the best examples of weaving, weaving and wood carving. Despite its modest size, the museum's exposition offers a comprehensive view of the life and work of rural residents of the past.

An important task of the Museum of Ethnography is to support local craftsmen and keepers of folk traditions. Many of them not only demonstrate their work, but also share their experiences by conducting workshops on embroidery, knitting and dowsing as part of exhibitions.

The museum actively cooperates with cultural and educational institutions of the Slutsk region, providing a platform for exhibitions of teachers and their students, as well as organizing joint master classes. The Museum of Ethnography regularly exhibits ceramics, wood, straw and vines, fabrics, as well as dolls.

The exhibition "Kalyadnaya Zorka" (The Christmas star) has become a traditional one, which presents decorative and applied works by students of the Slutsk Center for Children's сreativity, selected at the regional stage of the republican competition.

The Museum of Ethnography maintains contacts with local collectors who provide their collections for thematic exhibitions: charcoal irons, souvenir bells, minerals. The museum staff is actively engaged in educational work with young people, organizing lectures, museum and pedagogical classes and meetings with interesting people.
