Porechye. The Church of the Mother of God of Tireless Help.
In the village of Porechye in the Grodno region, a wooden Catholic church of the Mother of God of Tireless Help was built at the local Catholic cemetery.
There are several monuments of architecture and antiquity in the village.
The church is not very ancient by historical standards, but it has an original and interesting architecture.
The church was built during the Russian Empire in the Neo-Gothic style. The temple was built in 1904-1906. In the early years, the church was a branch of the Church of Francis Xavier in Grodno. Since 1919, the church in Porechye has had the status of an independent parish. At that time, the building was completed-chapels were erected, which created the transept and the main facade. The Neo-Gothic church acquired the features of Art Nouveau with these extensions. In the 1930s, the number of parishioners was about four thousand people.
After the Great Patriotic War in Soviet times, the church did not close and worked. In the 1970s, the temple received the status of an architectural monument. The building has the shape of a cross in the plan. A pentagonal apse is attached to the main volume. The main volume is covered with a gable roof.
The interior has a communal building. There are three neo-Baroque altars. In the main altar there is an icon of Our Lady of Urgent Help in a Silver Hay. There are sculptures of St. Anthony and St. Francis all around.
