Ozery. The Church of the Holy Spirit.
There is a stone Orthodox Church of the Holy Spirit in the center of Ozery, Grodno region. The place itself is very ancient. There are several archaeological sites near the lakes-Paleolithic and Mesolithic sites. This era dates back tens of thousands of years ago.
It was first mentioned in written sources during the time of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania in the 14th century, when the "court" of Prince Vytautas belonged. In the 15th – 17th centuries, the town was the center of the parish and belonged to the Grand Duke. In 1518, King Sigismund the Old leased the Ozery to the headman of Grodno, Prince Yuri Radziwill. Then the place passed back to the Grand Duke and in 1555 it was leased to Sebastian Dybovsky. In 1568, Prince Sigismund August granted a privilege to hold fairs. In 1679, a new wooden Catholic church was built on the Market Square in honor of the Mother of God Ruzhentsova. The old church was destroyed during the war in the middle of the 17th century.
After the partitions of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth at the end of the 18th century as part of the Russian Empire.
In 1866, according to a standard design, the Orthodox Church of the Holy Spirit was built in the center of the village near the church. The temple was built on the site of an ancient wooden church, which was built by the foundation of Count Mikhail Valitsky (1746-1828).
The monument was erected according to a standard design of brick and rubble stone in a retrospective Russian style. The building consists of four main architectural parts: the vestibule, the refectory, the prayer part and the apse. A two-tiered eight-on-eight bell tower is built above the vestibule. The interior has a three-tiered iconostasis.
