Porechye. Railway station.
There are several monuments of architecture and antiquity in the town of Porechye in the Grodno region. A unique Catholic church with Neo-Gothic and modern features has been built here. There is a wooden Orthodox church of the Kazan Mother of God. But the main "feature" of the town is the building of the railway station.
It is believed that the first railway station was built in Porechye. The movement of trains here was carried out during the time of the Russian Empire in 1862 on the Grodno–Porechye line. And the railway line itself led from the imperial capital to Warsaw. The first railway station was built in 1867 and it was the first railway station in the territory of the Republic of Belarus, from which the first train went through the territory of our country.
An appropriate infrastructure has been built in connection with the construction of the railway.: warehouses, a locomotive depot, a water tower, and other facilities.
In the 20th century, the railway from Porechye station went not only in the direction of Vilnius and Grodno, but also to Druskeninkai, where the famous sanatorium is located.
The stone building of the railway station was built in the first half of the 20th century. The building is characterized by Art Nouveau features with elements of the Zakopane style. The beauty and scale of the station in the small town of Porechye attracted the attention of many cameramen at different times and several feature films were shot here.
A mock-up of an ancient train is installed near the station.
