The Greenberg Pharmacy building is a unique architectural monument in Brest, built in 1925 in the Art Nouveau style.

The Greenberg Pharmacy in Brest is a unique architectural monument and the only building in the city that has not changed its pharmacy purpose since 1925. The building is included in the list of historical and cultural values of Brest.

The house project was created specifically for the architect's wife, Fani Greenberg, a certified pharmacist. The pharmacy occupied the first floor, and the second and third floors were reserved for family housing.

In 1940, the pharmacy was nationalized, but the Greenbergs continued to work there. During the years of occupation, the institution was not closed.: it served the townspeople and was part of an underground network, supplying the partisans with medicines. The Greenbergs themselves, fleeing from arrest, joined a partisan detachment, and returned after the liberation of the city. Fani became the head of the pharmacy again until the family emigrated in 1946.

Greenberg's sons traveled around the world (the eldest to Israel, the youngest Jacob (Jack) to the USA). In 1998, Jack visited Brest, and in 2015, his son Stephen, an American film director, who saw the house where his father and uncles were born.

In the 1960s and 80s, the pharmacy expanded and modernized.

Today it is a pharmacy of ready-made dosage forms (over 4,000 names), which has been repeatedly recognized as one of the best in the country.

In 2013, a museum room with 20th-century artifacts (antique tableware, scales, rare pharmacopoeias from 1902 and 1942) was opened here. Inna Filipuk, the head of the pharmacy, collected all the exhibits, and today they are enthusiastically demonstrated by the pharmacy staff. Visitors can learn in detail about the history of pharmacy No. 3 and the Greenberg family itself, as well as immerse themselves in the fascinating world of pharmacy. The exhibit contains tools and utensils used in the pharmacy, including a bottle with the Kavalsky stamp. Special attention is drawn to the antique meat grinder used to prepare raw materials for candles, a set of syringes "Record" of the 50s.

This museum is actively visited by tourists from all over the world, and the descendants of the founders (the Greenberg family) also visit here.

It is very easy to view the exhibition: just contact the staff. For a more organized visit, it is better to arrange in advance!

It's better to see it once than to read it a hundred times...
