The Church of Saints Peter and Paul in the small village of Zhukovka is an island of faith and silence.
The temple continues the traditions of folk wooden architecture, characterized by simplicity and modesty. The onion-shaped domes above the vestibule and the main volume, as well as the tent-shaped bell tower, are made in the retrospective Russian style. The ensemble also includes a tent-shaped bell tower.
The exterior of the temple is simple and contains almost no decorative elements. The green color of the building harmoniously combines with the surrounding nature, creating an atmosphere of peace and tranquility.
Despite the fact that some might say that there are many similar churches in Belarus, the church in Zhukovka is not just a landmark, but an active church for believers. In front of the entrance there is a large stone with the date "1884", which may be the year of the temple's foundation. Above the entrance to the temple is an icon of Saints Peter and Paul.
The patronal feast of Saints Peter and Paul is celebrated on June 29. On this day, when summer is in full swing, you can feel a special holiday atmosphere in Zhukovka.
A visit to Zhukovka and the Church of Saints Peter and Paul is often included in sightseeing tours of the surrounding villages. But even if you are traveling on your own, this quiet corner of Belarus will be a pleasant place to relax from the hustle and bustle of the capital.
In the temple, filled with the smell of incense and silence, you can pray, relax your soul and gain strength by breathing in the clean air and enjoying the beautiful nature. This is a place where you can take a short break in life and feel a surge of strength.
