Monument "Belarus Partizanskaya".
The front line was located on the site of the monument "Belarus Partizanskaya" during the Great Patriotic War. Valuable German documents with the plans of the Fascist army for the German offensive on the Southern Front fell into the hands of the partisans. Along with the documents, a map was found where the Oktyabrsky district of the Gomel region was circled and named a "strategically important area."
In the village of Slobodka itself, there is now an obelisk at the burial site of the partisans of the thirty-seventh brigade named after General Parkhomenko, and soldiers of the Soviet Army who died during the liberation of the village of Slobodka.
From the first days of the Great Patriotic War, residents of the Oktyabrsky district joined the fight against the Nazi invaders. Already in July 1941, the Red October partisan detachment was created from party and Soviet assets in the area. In the autumn of 1941, a partisan zone was established in the Oktyabrsky district. In 1942, Soviet power was restored in the area, the district executive committees and executive committees of village councils were active, and massive political work was carried out among the population. In the autumn of the same year, Soviet schools were opened in many localities.
Every third resident of the district died in the fight against the Nazi invaders.
In June 1944, the 28th Army, in cooperation with the partisans, liberated the Oktyabrsky district from the Nazi invaders. 16 Soviet soldiers who performed a feat on the territory of the Oktyabrsky district were awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union. 1,356 residents of the district received military awards.
The monument "Belarus Partizanskaya" in the Oktyabrsky district of the Gomel region is a symbol of the national guerrilla struggle, in which not only men, but also women and children participated. The monument is set against the background of a forest among tall trees. In his sculptural composition, the theme of the partisan forest, which sheltered, protected, warmed and fed the national avengers, sounds. The ensemble of sculptures of a woman emerging from the forest and a boy clinging to her represent a synthesis of sculptures and landscape.
The feat of the partisans will forever remain in the history of the Great Patriotic War as a symbol of courage, patriotism, and loyalty to duty to the Motherland and the country.
