Description
The Mound of Glory is located in the center of Mozyr and is one of the largest military-patriotic complexes in Belarus. It was inaugurated in 1967, when search operations were carried out in the city to identify the graves of soldiers of the Great Patriotic War. Individual and mass graves were scattered in various places, but most of them were found. After that, the remains were moved to the future memorial complex "Mound of Glory". In the following years, the memorial park was replenished with new monuments.

Mozyr. The Mound of Glory.
The Mound of Glory is an impressive 45-meter stele and a massive multi-meter cube, on which is engraved the inscription: "Abarontsam Radzimy ad Mazyran" (which translates from belarussian as "To the Defenders of the Motherland from the inhabitants of Mozyr"). This monument is decorated with a howitzer from the Great Patriotic War, an eternal flame burns on it, and there is also a mass grave of Mozyr soldiers and partisans.
The memorial complex was inaugurated in 1967, in honor of the 23rd anniversary of the liberation of the city from the Nazi invaders. In 1977, on the 60th anniversary of the October Revolution, a mass grave of the liberators of Mozyr was created on the territory of the Mound of Glory. For this purpose, the remains of the fallen soldiers were exhumed, which were reburied with honors, which gathered almost the entire city for a funeral rally.
Over time, this memorial complex became a place of regular meetings between veterans of the Great Patriotic War and internationalist soldiers. During public holidays, parades, rallies, and flower and wreath laying ceremonies are held here.
In addition, in September 2011, a monument was unveiled in honor of the besiegers and defenders of Leningrad, which was attended by those who survived the siege of Mozyr, making this event especially touching and significant.
