Ola Memorial Complex.

The memorial is located on the site of the village of the same name, destroyed by the Nazis during World War II. The name of this village is associated with the Ola River, a tributary of the Berezina River, near which the settlement was founded. In the documents of 1795, it is mentioned as a settlement of the Bobruisk district of the Minsk province, consisting of 6 courtyards and was state property.

At the time of the outbreak of World War II, 168 people lived in Ola.

At the end of July 1941, the village was occupied by the German invaders. By January 1944, residents from other burned settlements had been resettled in the village.

On January 14, 1944, a German punitive detachment surrounded the village, driving people into houses, which were then set on fire. As a result of this action, 1,758 civilians were killed, including 950 children. After the war, Ola was not reborn.

In 1958, a monument in the form of a kneeling soldier with a wreath was erected at the mass grave where 2,253 people were buried.

Subsequently, the Ola memorial complex was created here, consisting of an entrance area, a memorial area and a walking route.

The central place of the complex is occupied by a symbolic cross and a bell, next to it is a belfry in the form of a traditional barn with bells corresponding to the number of villages whose inhabitants died here.

The tragedy, pain and sadness of those moments and events are fully felt here.

Today, the memory of them is alive in the hearts of the people.…
