Pinsk. Polessky Drama Theatre.
The Polessky Drama Theater is located in the historical center of Pinsk. The theater begins its history at the beginning of the 20th century, when there were already two theater groups in Pinsk: The Goltsman Brothers Theater and the Korzeniowski Theater.
In 1939, after the unification of Western and Eastern Belarus, the Polessky Regional Drama Theater was established in Pinsk. The collective of farm theater was transferred from the city of Zaslavl to Pinsk. After the war, in 1946, the theater resumed its work on the basis of the Polessky Regional Drama Theater in the city of Mozyr, and then transferred to Pinsk. And from that time on, the theater began to be called the Pinsk Regional Drama Theater. The famous actor and director Valentin Ivanovich Ermolovich worked in the troupe.
After the liquidation of the Pinsk region, the theater was transferred to the city of Mogilev, and the theater building was transferred to the city house of culture, where an amateur theater troupe began operating. In 1959, the theater was awarded the title of a national amateur group. Since 1992, the collective has been reorganized into the 'Diogenes' Studio Theater.
In the spring of 2006, the grand opening of the Polessky Drama Theater took place. The theater building is an architectural monument, which was built in 1912 in the Art Nouveau style. At first, there was the casino cinema. The auditorium can accommodate 110 visitors. A few years ago, sculptures of the heroes of the comedy play "Pinsk Gentry" by Vincent Dunin – Martsinkevich were installed next to the theater building.
