Landmark
Belarus, Brest region, Baranovichi district, Arabovshchina
Description
Near the town of Arabovshchina in the Baranovichi district, east of the village, there is an interesting monument, which is nicknamed the "three crosses". This is an image of an eagle on a pedestal, and behind the eagle are three crosses.
There are two versions of who erected the monument and to whom it is dedicated. According to one reason, the Polish military erected a monument in the 1920s during the Polish state, which is dedicated to three legendary campaigns of the Polish army. On the other hand, the monument was erected by the Germans during the First World War.

The monument "Three Crosses", located near the village of Starye Voykovichi, is the only one of its kind.
The monument "Three Crosses", located near the village of Starye Voykovichi, is the only one of its kind. Locals claim that it recalls the sacrifices suffered during the First World War by Germans, Russians and the local population — Belarusians and Poles. The battles took place here in early 1916 and were called the Baranovichi operation. Russian troops gathered almost 320,000 people to break through the front, losing 80,000 killed and wounded, while the Germans suffered losses of 13,000 people.
According to the preserved information, the monument was erected in the late 20s of the 20th century by soldiers of the 78th Infantry and 26th Lancers of the Polish Army stationed in Baranovichi. Two swords were once attached to the front of the plinth, symbolizing the brotherhood in arms of Litvinov and Poles. On the side of the plinth was a metal plaque with the inscription: "In honor of the three campaigns of the Knights of the Commonwealth."
The crosses symbolize three significant campaigns of Poles to the East: the first during the Russian—Polish War of 1609-1618, the second against Napoleon's army in 1812, and the third during the Polish-Bolshevik War of 1919-1920.
However, there is another version according to which the monument has German roots and is connected with the events that took place here in 1916 during the First World War. In the north-west of modern Belarus, the fiercest battles of the First World War, which was long called the imperialist war, took place.
In this context, it is worth mentioning the most peaceful military monument of the First World War, located near the wooden Trinity Church of the early 19th century in the village of Danyushevo, Smorgon district.

Arabovshchina. Three crosses monument
There are several monuments and historical sites in the Arabovshchina village of Baranovichi district. This includes several sites dedicated to the events of the First World War. Several reinforced concrete dugouts and pillboxes have been preserved near the village since then, since the front stood here for a long time.
Three kilometers east of Arabovshchina, near the forest, there is a unique monument, which is nicknamed the "three crosses."
It is not known exactly to whom this monument is dedicated, but there are two versions: one says that it was erected by the Germans in honor of their fallen compatriots during the First World War, and the second – that it was the Poles who erected the monument in honor of the three legendary campaigns of the Polish army.
The monument looks like this: an eagle is mounted on a concrete pedestal, and behind it there are three crosses.
According to the "Polish" version, it is reported that the monument was erected in the 1920s during the Polish state. Soldiers of the 78th Infantry and 26th Uhlan Regiments of the Polish Army, who were stationed in Baranovichi at that time, took part in its construction. Previously, there was a metal plaque on the monument with the inscription: "in honor of the three campaigns of the Knights of the Commonwealth." And the three crosses symbolize the three heroic campaigns of the Polish army.
According to another version, this monument was erected by the Germans in honor of the events of the First World War, and that the monument was erected in 1916 and symbolizes the three attacks.
