Lavyanov's apartment building in Gomel.
The house got its name in honor of the merchant, Yakov Lavyanov, who invested his own funds in its construction. The premises were originally intended for rental. The construction of merchant Lavyanov's apartment building dates back to the late 19th - early 20th century.
During the Soviet period, after nationalization, the building was transformed into an ordinary apartment building, and retail outlets were located on the ground floor.
The architectural style of the building is modern with Baroque elements. This style was very popular at the turn of the century.
The house is painted red with contrasting white decorative details and has a pediment located in the center of the main facade. The pediment with volutes at the base is a characteristic feature of the Baroque. Under the eaves of the roof there is a frieze in the form of an arcade with diagonal crossbars forming a cross-shaped pattern. The window openings are framed by architraves with a keystone on the sandriks at the windows of the second floor.
Today, this architectural monument is in excellent condition. There is a store on the ground floor of the building.
