Chechersk. The Church of the Transfiguration of the Savior.

The Transfiguration Church was built in 1783 in the center of the town of Chechersk by order of Count Zachary Chernyshev, who sought to transform Chechersk into a flourishing model city. The church was built in the classical style. This is a stone two-tiered rotunda temple. In terms of construction, there is a circle with an inner diameter of 15 meters. The church is completed with a hemispherical dome on a stepped drum. An octagonal bell tower has been built above the main entrance, which is covered with a faceted dome. And from the eastern part, a rectangular altar apse adjoins the church. The main volume of the building is divided into tiers by a Doric entablature. The main room of the church is a single space. Wooden choirs have been built above the entrance to the hall. The interiors were decorated with colored murals.
