Chechersk. Palace of the Chernyshovs - Kruglikovs.

Chechersk was gifted to Zakhary Chernyshov by the Russian empress after the partition of Rechnia, who launched a large-scale construction in the town. The palace of the Chernyshovs - Kruglikovs, which was built in the 19th century and was rebuilt many times during its history, has survived to our time. Chernyshov built his first palace in Chechersk on the territory of the castle, now it is Castle Hill. Since the Chernyshovs were one of the most influential noble families in the Russian Empire at that time, crowned persons often visited here in those years. All the more so because Countess Anna Rodionovna Chernyshova, wife of Z. Chernyshov, was the godmother of Emperor Alexander I. In 1781, Grand Duke Pavel Petrovich and his wife Maria Feodorovna visited Chechersk. They spent several days here. The Chernyshovs organized a big celebration for their distinguished guests: the opera "New Family" was shown. Empress Catherine II visited Countess Chernyshova in 1787 during her trip to our region. In 1850, Emperor Nicholas I and his heir Alexander Nikolayevich visited Chechersk, and in 1857 - Emperor Alexander II and his wife. According to some sources, this two-story brick palace, which has survived to this day, was built at the beginning of the 19th century, and according to others, in the middle of the century. In the middle of the 19th century, Sofya Chernyshova married Ivan Kruglikov, and the Kruglikovs became the owners of the estate. Since 1905, a school was located near the building. During the war, the building was badly damaged, but it was restored. There was a library, the House of Pioneers and even a hospital. Now the building is in a dilapidated state and they are trying to sell it.
