Chechersk. The Chernyshov-Kruglikov Palace.

After the partition of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, Chechersk was donated by the Russian Empress to Zakhariy Chernyshov, who launched a large construction site in the city. The Chernyshov-Kruglikov Palace, built in the 19th century and rebuilt several times in its history, has survived to our time.

Chernyshov built his first palace in Chechersk on the territory of the castle, now it is Castle Hill. Since the Chernyshovs were one of the most influential noble families in the Russian Empire at that time, crowned heads often came here in those years. Moreover, Countess Anna Rodionovna Chernyshova, the wife of Z. Chernyshov, was the godmother of Emperor Alexander I.

In 1781, Grand Duke Pavel Petrovich visited Chechersk with his wife Maria Feodorovna. They spent several days here. The Chernyshovs staged a big celebration for their distinguished guests: the opera "The New Family" was shown.

Empress Catherine II visited Countess Chernyshova in 1787 during a trip to these parts.

In 1850, Emperor Nicholas I and his heir Alexander Nikolaevich visited Chechersk, and in 1857, Emperor Alexander II and his wife.

According to some sources, this two-story brick palace, which has survived to this day, was built in the early 19th century, according to others – in the middle of the century.

In the middle of the 19th century, Sofia Chernyshova married Ivan Kruglikov, and the Kruglikovs became the owners of the estate.

Since 1905, a school has been located next to the building. The building was badly damaged during the war, but it was restored. There was a library, a Pioneer Home, and even a hospital. Now the building is in a dilapidated state and they are trying to sell it.
