Goravets. Church of the Intercession.
The Orthodox Church of the Intercession of the Most Holy Theotokos is located in the village of Goravets in Logoisk district. The place is located in the middle of nowhere among forests and fields and it is better to get here from the town of Pleshchenitsy.
The temple was built during the Russian Empire in the 19th century in the traditions of Belarusian folk wooden architecture.
The church was closed in Soviet times in 1929. The rector of the temple was arrested. The building was given over to social needs and a local club and then a warehouse worked here. Then the building was turned over to the household needs of the stable. And then the warehouse worked.
In the last years of the Soviet Union, in 1990, the building was handed over to Orthodox believers. The renovation of the shrine was started. The church is active.
The building consists of three main architectural parts: a vestibule, a prayer hall and an apse. The temple has a rectangle in the plan, which is covered with a gable roof. A pentagonal apse under a hip roof is attached to the main volume.
In recent years, the church has been besieged with bricks and plastered. A wooden one-story manor house and a park with century-old lime trees have been preserved in the village.
