Druya. Sapieha Manor house.

The agricultural town of Druya is a place with a rich historical past. According to legend, a treasure belonging to Napoleon may be hidden here. These lands are also associated with the life of Yanka Kupala, and the estate was owned by famous families – Sapieha, Svyatsky and Mickiewicz.

At the beginning of the 17th century, Jan Sapieha built a castle here, fortified with ramparts and ramparts facing Riga and Polotsk. Unfortunately, a detailed description of the original appearance of the castle has not been preserved, which generates controversy among researchers, some of whom attribute its construction to the 19th century.

The turbulent events of the 19th and 20th centuries left their mark on the estate complex. Wars and revolutions led to the loss of many elements of the architectural ensemble. Today we can only speculate about the former splendor of the estate, based on archival documents. The modern manor house building is only a partial reflection of the original appearance, as the structure has been rebuilt several times.

The park in Druya, founded at the beginning of the 19th century, is a monument of landscape art. The 4-hectare area is home to both local and exotic tree species: horse chestnut and rough weeping elm. The park stretches from west to east, and ancient alleys have been preserved to the south.

Despite the changes that have occurred over time, the Sapieha manor house in Druya attracts tourists with its quiet beauty and historical atmosphere.
