Bolshye Shilovichi. Kazan Icon of the Mother of God church.

In the village of Bolshye Shilovichi, Slonim district, in the center of the settlement, there is a stone Orthodox church, which was consecrated in honor of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God.

The first wooden church in the village has been known since the time of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania in the 15th century. The new stone church was built during the Russian Empire in 1818.

Initially, the shrine was consecrated in honor of St. Nicholas. In 1882, the building was severely damaged during a fire when it was struck by lightning. The temple was rebuilt and the church was consecrated again. But it was consecrated in honor of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God.

After the Peace of Riga in 1921, the town became part of the Polish state until 1939. In 1932 – 1939, Archpriest Andrei Kutz, who had previously been a teacher at the Vilna Theological Seminary, was a priest at the church. In 1939, the priest was killed by bandits.

The monument was built of brick and rubble stone in the classical style. The main volume of the temple has the shape of an octagon, which is completed by a spherical dome. The main facade is decorated with four Doric order columns, which is completed with a triangular pediment. The interior has an iconostasis.

A stone four-tiered bell tower has been erected in front of the temple. There is a rubble stone fence around the temple.
