Slonim. Water supply tower.
In the city of Slonim, near the railway station, there is a water supply tower, which, together with the station building, forms a single architectural ensemble. The water tower and the train station were built at the same time during the period of the Polish state in the 1920s.
Back in the days of the Russian Empire, in 1895, the city Duma of Slonim decided to build a water pipeline. Permission was granted to a philistine named Girsha Kunitsa to begin construction of a water pipeline in Slonim. The construction of the first stage was completed in the autumn of 1895. At first, it was planned to make wooden structures, but then they decided to make cast-iron ones. Water was supplied in the city through two taps on Jerusalem Street and on Cathedral Square.
In 1916, the first water supply tower was built in Slonim. After the Peace of Riga was concluded in 1921, Slonim was part of the Polish state until 1939. In 1922, the railway station building was modernized and rebuilt. The station acquired the features of Art Nouveau, neo-Baroque, as well as Zakopane style. At that time, a new water tower in the Art Nouveau style was built next to the station.
