Description

The building of the former brewery (now the Slutsk Vinegar Factory) was built in the village of Pokrashevo in 1911 in the Art Nouveau style. And today it impresses with its appearance, as it has managed to remain in the same architectural form as it was 100 years ago. The low, compact buildings are of great historical interest and attract admiring glances.

The Slutsk Vinegar Factory building is an Art Nouveau architectural monument.

There are many Art Nouveau monuments in Belarus, some of which are still used as industrial buildings. One of them is the Slutsk Vinegar Factory. This factory, a former distillery, is the only vinegar production in Belarus. In addition to the main building, old outbuildings have been preserved.

Despite the numbers "1911" on the facade, the distillery, which now houses the vinegar factory, was founded here by landowner Mikhail Pokrevsky in 1876, where potato wine was produced. Potato wine exported to Poland contributed to the expansion of production.

At the beginning of the 20th century, in 1911, after several changes of owners, the factory acquired its final exterior and interior appearance in the Art Nouveau style with asymmetry and reinforced walls. The architectural Art Nouveau style of the enterprise was expressed in the asymmetrical layout and reinforced walls. The window and door openings are distinguished by broken and curved lines, as well as original ornamental details. The building had massive, fortified walls and a utility yard.

After 1917, the factory was reoriented into a distillery, and in 1959 it became a vinegar factory. Currently, the building is painted in light colors.

Not far from the factory, on the shore of a picturesque pond in a pre-war brick building of an old windmill, there is a Museum of village antiquities.
