19th century manor of the Kozell-Poklevsky nobles
The estate was built in 1890-1893. The palace is very similar to fairy-tale Bavarian castles, and all because the owner, Vikenty Kosell-Poklevsky, loved to travel and make sketches of the design elements of buildings that he liked. This is precisely what explains the abundance of architectural styles of his estate. There are elements of Rococo, Classicism, Baroque, Romanesque, Neo-Gothic. The estate had many owners and this also explains such diversity in its design - everyone brought something of their own. The appearance of the building is very unusual: turrets, huge windows, attics, weather vanes, a lot of decorative elements. The fabulous color scheme of the estate immediately captures your attention. Nearby is a miniature servants' house, similar to a mini-palace. The park, decorated in a free English style, is also impressive. It preserves trees planted at the end of the 19th century. The palace has 36 rooms, the decoration and appearance of which are different from each other - that’s where the flight of fancy comes in! The main room for receiving guests is made in a rare Moorish style.
In the rooms of unique beauty there are chandeliers, mirrors, forged and carved items, stucco, elements made of gold leaf, tiles and parquet made using special technologies.
One kilometer from the estate there is a deeply tragic memorial to children tortured by the Nazis. The memorial begins with a central figure of a teenage girl trying to protect herself from horror and death. Next are white desks that children will never sit at, and a black board with a letter from a fifteen-year-old girl to her father at the front asking for revenge for the bullying of the Nazis. In the depths of the memorial there is a white sailboat with the names of the dead children, and at the end of the composition there are drawings of the children. There are apple tree alleys on both sides of the memorial.
The Red Coast is a unique place that combines the delight of luxury, the fabulousness of the unusual design of the estate, the delight of admiration for the Belarusian nature and sympathy and pain for the children tortured by monsters who never saw all this beauty. You just need to visit this small, but very rich in history and impressions, corner of Belarus!
