Zhemyslavl. The Umyastovsky's estate.

On the very border with Lithuania, just 5 kilometers from the neighboring state, there is one of the most beautiful manors in Belarus - the Umestovsky manor in Zhemyslavl. The town is located on the Gauja creek, and at first the estate belonged to the Kaneviches, and in 1807, Yakub Umyastovsky bought it for himself as a family estate. Originally, the manor building was made of wood. Then Jakub's son Kazimierz Umyastovsky built two brick offices in the style of classicism, a cold room, a greenhouse and a playpen. And the wife of Kazimierz Yuzef Umyastovskaya built a brick palace in 1877, which has survived to our time. A brick brewery was built, which is still working, a mill and a sawmill. The farm gave a good profit. But at the end of the 19th century, the Umiestovskys gave the manor to Vilnius University for a scientific base. During the First World War, the Germans created a resort here. In Soviet times, the buildings housed: the office of the collective farm, a club, a post office and a library. Over time, the manor fell into disrepair and a few years ago it was dug up by a private person. The palace was built as a copy of the royal residence in Warsaw of the 18th century "Lazenki". The park and outbuildings and a beautiful pond have been preserved. There is a dam with a hydroelectric power plant on the river, which was in operation a few years ago. The hydropower plant was also bought out by the owner and over time wants to make a museum at the station.
