Zheludok. Assumption church of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

The town of Zheludok has been known since the 15th century and belonged to the Grand Duke of Lithuania. Somewhere around 1490, the first Catholic community was formed and the first wooden church was built. In 1853, a brick church was built in the classical style according to the design of the famous architect, professor of the Vilnius University Karol Podcheshinsky (1790-1860). The church has an ancient crypt with burials. The famous Belarusian socio-political court treasurer Antoni Tyzenhauz (1733-1785) is buried here.

The Catholic church building has a rectangular plan, which is completed by a semicircular apse. On the sides of the church are transept wings. The main facade has a triangular pediment, decorated with sculptures of saints. The main facade of the temple is decorated with a four-column Doric portico with sculptures of the evangelists. An octagonal belfry towered above the main facade until the beginning of the 20th century, and a bell tower was built above the altar.

Along the perimeter of the building, the walls are surrounded by a massive entablature with wide scapulas. The church is built of rubble stone and brick, and somewhat resembles a small fortress. The temple is surrounded by a brick fence. Beautiful flower beds and compositions are created nearby. The church is active and can be visited.
