Description

The village of Zheludok is very unusual. Several dozen ancient buildings of different architectural styles and purposes have been preserved here: a church, a palace, a synagogue, an icehouse, an outbuilding, a stable and many others. On the outskirts of the city, the Svyatopolk-Chetvertinsky Palace was built at the beginning of the 20th century.

A private owner bought the building several years ago, and it is currently undergoing restoration. For a small fee, you can enter the palace and the park.

Zheludok. Palace of Svyatopolk - Chaevertinsky.

At the beginning of the 20th century, the Svyatopolk-Chetvertinskys built an estate and park architectural complex on the outskirts of the city of Zheludok. The palace and main buildings were built under Prince Ludwig Rudolf Svyatopolk-Chetvertinsky (1877-1941). The architectural complex includes: a palace, an outbuilding, a mill, a forge and other outbuildings. A regular park was created around the palace complex.

The palace is made of brick and was built in the neo-baroque style in 1908. The architect was Władysław Marconi (1848 – 1915) – a famous Polish architect and restorer.

After the war, during the Soviet era, a secret military unit was located in the palace building. In 2010, the Belarusian feature film "Massacre" directed by Andrei Kudinenko was filmed in the palace. It is considered the first Belarusian horror film. The film tells the story of a werewolf bear based on Belarusian legends and the novel by Prosper Mérimée.

The premises have now been acquired by a private individual. Restoration is planned.

To the right of the palace in the park there is an unusual brick outbuilding with a stone tower. At first this building was an estate where the former owners of the town of Tyzenhaus lived. Before the construction of the palace, the Svyatopolk-Chetvertinskys lived here.

The outbuilding is in a dilapidated state, but architecturally it is very interesting and unusual in the neo-Gothic style.

To get to the palace and the park, you need to go to the main entrance to the park. Because the entire estate is surrounded by a brick fence. At the entrance there is a guard's house and for a small fee you will be allowed to visit the palace and park complex. The park is very dense, with alleys and meadows - beautiful at any time of the year.
