Zhabinka. Holy Protection Church.
Church
Belarus, Brest region, Zhabinkovsky district, Zhabinka, Komsomolskaya street, 82
Description
The Church of the Intercession, built in 1885 from wood in the neoclassical style, is located between the city and the residential village of the sugar factory. Its distinctive feature is the overhead carved decor and horizontal paneling, reminiscent of rustication, which distinguishes the temple from typical buildings of the "synodal" trend of Orthodox architecture in Belarus at the end of the 19th century.
The interior of the church is decorated with 12 artistic compositions depicting scenes from the life of Jesus Christ. These works, made by local craftsmen in 1985, were created to mark the centenary of the church's consecration.

Zhabinka. Holy Protection Church.
The Holy Protection Church, built in 1885 from wood, is an example of classical Belarusian architecture with elements of neoclassicism. Its construction lasted a year and a half, and the solemn consecration, which took place on November 14, was accompanied by the ringing of bells alerting residents of the surrounding area.
The history of the temple goes back to the 16th century, which makes it one of the oldest religious sites in the Brest region. At that time, the village of Myschitsy was located on the site of the modern city of Zhabinka. By the middle of the 19th century, the Myshitsky Orthodox Church, which had a complex history for three centuries, gradually fell into disrepair and was almost destroyed towards the end of the century.
The new church, built in 1885, inherited the features of Great Russian architecture. Its interior, including iconostases and icons, resembled ancient Orthodox churches, preserving the traditions of Russian painting. The Intercession Church has always existed thanks to the charity of parishioners and the generosity of believers. Its construction and reconstruction took place on donations, and the parishioners themselves actively participated in the work, providing necessary things: books, icons and church utensils.
Today, the church continues its active work. It has a Sunday school, a youth fraternity, a sisterhood, a children's and choir choir. The temple remains an important spiritual center that unites believers and preserves religious traditions.
