Description
In the center of the agro-town of Zembin (Borisovsky district of Minsk region) there are several architectural monuments, among which is the recently restored Orthodox Church of the Holy Archangel Michael.
The Mikhailovskaya Church was built in 1908 in the pseudo-Russian style, on the site of an old, but dilapidated wooden church. The author of the project was the famous church architect of that time Viktor Struyev. This architectural pearl of the Minsk Diocese is located next to the site of the historic crossing of Napoleon's army across the Berezina River.
The church was badly damaged during the war, and was even more destroyed during the filming of a feature film in the 1960s. The temple has been restored and is operational.

Zembin. Church of Archangel Michael.
In Zembin, the first Orthodox church was known since the 18th century and was located in the city centre. The church was destroyed by fire, and in its place in 1811 a new church was built in honour of St. Michael. The new wooden church burned down several times, but was repaired and rebuilt. In May 1900, the Orthodox church was completely destroyed by fire. In the summer of 1903, a new brick Orthodox church was founded, consecrated in 1908.
During the war, the Nazis turned the church into a defensive fortification, and the building suffered greatly during the fighting. After the war, a collective farm warehouse was located here. But the greatest destruction of the temple occurred in 1965 during the filming of the feature film "Roll Call" in Zembin. According to the plot of the film, Nazi soldiers hold the defense in the church, and the Soviet T-34 tank breaks into the temple and destroys the occupiers. The role of the Soviet tanker was played by the famous Russian film actor Nikita Mikhalkov. Almost a meter of brickwork did not yield to the tank ram, spectacular shots did not work out, and then part of the altar wall was blown up, the resulting opening was faked, after which the T-34 broke through to the altar easily and beautifully.
The temple was in ruins for a long time. In recent years, donations were collected and the monument was restored. The church is active. The adjacent territory is also landscaped.
The church is an architectural monument of the pseudo-Russian style. The building consists of 4 main parts: a vestibule, a refectory, a prayer hall and an apse. A multi-tiered bell tower is built above the vestibule.
