Zarechanka. The Church of the Nativity of the Mother of God.

There is a small village called Zarechanka with a stone Catholic church between Grodno and Sopotskin. The temple was consecrated in honor of the Mother of God Ruzhentsova.

The name of the place comes from the local small river Zarechanka, which flows into the Neman River after one kilometer.

This small village has several historical attractions: a defensive fort from the early 20th century of the era of the Russian Empire, a local museum of local lore, and an architecturally dominant Catholic church towering over the neighborhood.

The local House of Culture houses the 'Melody of the Towel' museum, which has a large collection of towels and bedspreads. The total collection of towels is more than 100 units. Here you will be shown and told about maternity, wedding, household towels and many others. A separate exhibition is dedicated to Belarusian carpets and bedspreads in the museum. There is a unique collection of things that our grandmothers used to make by hand. Now such things are only industrial, but in the museum you will be shown original handmade works.

A single-towered church towers over the village. The temple is located in the very center of Zarechanka opposite the House of Culture with a museum.

After the Peace of Riga in 1921, the town was part of the Polish state until 1939. In 1927, a local Catholic parish was established and construction of a church began, with funds raised by the parishioners themselves. In 1937, the new church was consecrated. An order was placed for the manufacture of the main altar in the church. But the Second World War began and the altar did not have time to be made.

After the Great Patriotic War, the church was closed in 1962.

And in 1989, the building was returned to Catholics. Repairs were carried out. In 1999, the side and main altars were completed.
