Zabychanye. Ascension Church.

The Holy Ascension Church, located in the village of Zabychanye, has a rich history. The first mention of the temple dates back to 1511. The first church on this site has not been preserved, and its successor, the wooden Holy Spirit Church, has also failed to meet the growing needs of parishioners. In 1893, under the leadership of the local landowner Arkady Ostankevich, it was decided to build a new brick church.

Zinberg, an architectural engineer from St. Petersburg, was invited to design the new church. In 1897, a new church with openwork masonry and decorative elements was consecrated by an archpastor from Mogilev. It became known as the Holy Ascension, and patronal feasts such as the Ascension of the Lord and the Day of the Holy Spirit were celebrated in the town. In 1897, there were 2,108 parishioners in the parish, and the church land was 33 tithes.

The first rector of the church was Father Theodosius Chumakov, and the last priest was Priest Viktor Bartashevich, who was later repressed. In 1932, services in the church stopped, and it was destroyed: crosses and bells were destroyed, and the iconostasis was burned. The temple was in disrepair for a long time, only the remote altarpiece has been preserved.

In 2010, the restoration of the temple began, during which windows, doors and walls were replaced and painted. In 2017, the temple celebrated its 120th anniversary, and in 2018 it was consecrated in honor of the Ascension of the Lord.

Today, the Holy Ascension Church is considered an important architectural monument in the Kostyukovichi district. The Orthodox parish has more than 300 people.
