Yazviny. Ruins of the church of the Holy Spirit.
A stone Catholic church has been built in Drogichin district between the villages of Yazviny and Pigasy. It is not easy to find the temple, as it is located in an abandoned and overgrown forest tract, which locals call "Winch" among themselves.
To find out where the church is located, ask the locals, they know everything about it.
The Catholic church was built during the time of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania in 1750. The church belonged to the Catholic Jesuit Order, which had a large presence in the territory of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth and the Grand Duchy. Not far from the church was the Yaroshevsky noble estate. According to some information, it is believed that the local gentry financed the construction of the church.
In 1861, the famous composer and artist Napoleon Orda visited the place, who left us an image of the church. And the drawing shows that a four-sided tower with an onion dome has already been built on the roof, and the former church already belonged to the Orthodox church at that time. It is likely that after the suppression of the anti–Russian uprising of 1830-1831, the church was handed over to the Orthodox.
The church was built in the Baroque style. It consists of two main parts: a prayer hall and an apse. The main volume in the plan has a square to which a semicircular apse is attached. The building was covered with a gable roof. Above the main facade, above the entrance portal, there is a barrack shaped pediment.
To date, the church building is in a neglected state: the roof has collapsed and the monument is overgrown with trees and shrubs.
