Vysokoe. Holy Cross Church.

In the center of town Vysokoe there is a stone Holy Cross Orthodox Church. The church was built in 1869 on the site of an old church. The church was built according to the project of Academician of architecture Nikolai Chagin (1823-1909) and approved by Count Mikhail Muravyov.

Architect M. Chagin supervised the construction of Orthodox churches in the western provinces of the Paradise Empire, where the active construction of churches began after the suppression of the anti-Russian uprising of 1863-1864. He worked as a civil engineer at the Grodno Chamber of State Property. Then he was appointed architect for the construction of Orthodox churches in Mogilev and Vitebsk provinces. Since 1864, he held the position of Vilna provincial architect.

The Orthodox church in Vysokoye was built with money that was seized from the participants of the anti-Russian uprising. The temple was built in a pseudo-Russian style. The building consists of four main parts: a vestibule, a refectory, a prayer hall and an apse. A two-tiered bell tower is built over the narthex, completed with a high faceted tent with an onion. The refectory is covered with a gable roof. The prayer hall is decorated with a cuboid centric volume, which is covered with a four–pitched roof and topped with 5 domes on 8-grain drums.

The interior has a two-tiered iconostasis of the 19th century. There is a memorial plaque on the wall about the visit to the church in 1886 of Emperor Alexander III together with his family. There are ancient icons from the 17th and 19th centuries. A rubble stone fence has been erected around the church. The church has been renovated.
