Description
The most amazing temples are sometimes located far from the usual tourist routes. One of them is the wooden church of St. Dimitry of Rostov, built in the village of Vydrenka, Krasnopolsky district, Mogilev region, 30 km from Krasnopol. The monument of wooden architecture was erected according to the project of architect Bartolomeo Rastrelli, the same one who designed the Winter Palace in St. Petersburg. The date of birth of the temple is October 4, 1905. The temple in Vydrenka is recognized as a historical and cultural value of the Republic of Belarus and is visited by tourists from near and far abroad (Italy, Germany, USA).

The wooden church of St. Dimitry of Rostov in Vydrenka.
The cornflower-blue church in a snow-white frame and with golden onion domes is rightfully considered the diamond of this place.
This temple is the ONLY one of the twelve in the Krasnopolsky district that has survived two wars, the Soviet hard times, the Chernobyl accident and survived at the same time.
The church was built by the landowner Maria, who returned from Italy to her father's estate
Baranovskaya. She suffered from terrible pains in her legs and one day in a dream she got
The sign: "You will be healed if you build a temple and it will be indestructible." Mary vowed to God to build a church here. No one can say for sure whether the lady was healed, but she built a temple. And not only the temple, but also engaged in charity work: she collected orphans around the district, treated them and trained them.
The church is built in the form of a cross. The architectural style of the building is eclectic, where the traditional composition is combined with elements of the neo-Russian style. The temple consists of a bell tower, a narthex, a cruciform main volume and a pentagonal asp with a square side sacristy.
The silhouette of the church is dominated by faceted tent coverings. The diversity of the overall composition is enriched by the two-sided shields of the log cabins. The walls are "cut" by rectangular windows. The main and two side entrances are highlighted by coverings on figured carved pillars decorated with oval medallions with icons. The interior has two galleries of choirs originally built in the side chapels, illuminated by pairs of arched windows in the shields. This wooden church was built without a single nail.
After the revolution, during the struggle against religion, many church images and icons were destroyed. Those who are in the temple now have miraculous powers. One of the oldest icons is the icon of the Kazan Mother of God, shot from a rifle on departure. Many pilgrims praying in faith in front of this Holy Icon received healing.
In addition to her, there is an icon in the church that predicted the disaster at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant. Shortly before that, a cloud like billowing smoke suddenly appeared over the face of St. Seraphim of Sarov, a warning of impending disaster. Parishioners noticed the cloud and considered it a bad sign.
In addition to the church itself, people go to these places to the life-giving springs. One of them is located directly next to the temple, and the other is nearby. All locals know about the stories of unusual cures with local water. These stories are described in a special book kept in the temple.
The Church of St. Demetrius of Rostov in Vydrenka has become a place of attraction for believers who come here for physical and spiritual healing. Here, in a quiet place surrounded by dense forests, you can find peace and healing for anyone who cares about the state of their soul.
