Voroncha. Catholic Cemetery.
In the village of Voroncha, Korelichi district, several monuments of architecture and antiquity have been preserved to this day. In the center of the village stands the Catholic Church of St. Gana. Near the church are the graves of the Bulgak family and a Catholic cemetery. A park and several outbuildings with a brewery have been preserved around the church. Once there was a manor house with a palace.
Voroncha was first mentioned in written sources in the 17th century during the time of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania. The settlement was part of the Novogrudok district. In the 17th century, the village was owned by the governor of Brest Stefan Kurcha. In the second half of the 18th century, Jozef Neselowski began to build a manor and park ensemble in the village.
After the second partition of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, the village became part of the Russian Empire.
Prominent Belarusian historians, poets and writers have visited Voroncha more than once. Famous Belarusian figures were baptized in the local church: the classic of Belarusian literature Jan Chechot, the beloved of the brilliant poet Adam Mickiewicz - Marylya Vereshchaka, the famous photographer and writer Jan Bulgak.
The Belarusian writer Vladimir Korotkevich called Voroncha an "eternal museum." Near the church there are burials of the Bulgak family and a Catholic cemetery. This cemetery is considered one of the largest and artistically valuable necropolises in Belarus. The brothers and mother of Marylya Vereshchaka, the father of the poet Jan Chechot, are buried here.
