A revived historical building.
In Volyntsy, at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, a remarkable red brick building appeared, combining a sturdy structure and elements of Art Nouveau. Built by a wealthy Jew named Isurin, it soon became home to a Jewish school where children studied Torah, Hebrew, and secular sciences.
The school existed until the 1930s, after which it was closed. It was only in 2014 that the building received a new lease of life – it was decided to convert it into an Orthodox chapel.
This project has become truly popular: local authorities, residents and entrepreneurs have joined forces to revive the historic building. A special role was played by Mikhail Kaskovich, a native of Volyntsy, who not only financed the installation of the dome and iconostasis, but also put his soul into the project. Workers from local businesses also contributed by putting the building in order with their own hands.
Crowned with a golden onion-shaped dome, the building has acquired the features of a retrospective Russian style, while retaining its original appearance thanks to the antique brickwork. This project has become a symbol of unity and rebirth, uniting history and faith in the very heart of the Volyntsy people.
