Volozhin. The estate of Count Tyshkevich.

If you visit the districts of the city of Volozhin to see the estate of Count Tyshkevich, then you should come to the former shopping square, where the Catholic church of St. Joseph is now located. There is also a Jewish yeshiva in the area. There is a car platform opposite the church, where you can park your car, see the church with the bell tower and head down the street to Count Tyshkevich's estate, which is a couple of hundred meters away.

At the beginning of the 19th century, the Tyshkevichs built their manor on the elevated bank of the small river Volozhinka. The initiator of the construction was Count Jozef Ignatiy Tyshkevich (1724-1815). The residence was built according to the project of the Vilna architect August Kosakovsky. The estate includes a palace, an outbuilding and a greenhouse. During the time of the Polish state in the interwar period, the palace was occupied by troops of the Polish border guard.

If you approach the estate, you will see from the right the building of the former greenhouse, where social facilities are now located. On the left there are 2 buildings behind the fence: on the left - this former wing, and on the right – the palace. To approach the architectural monuments, you need to go through the slag heap, because the buildings now house the district police and this is a regime facility.

All 3 buildings were built at the same time together with the Church of St. Joseph. The architectural style is classicism. The wing and the palace are rectangular in plan, single-storey buildings. The central parts have attics and the main entrance is decorated in the form of a four-column portico. The buildings are built on a high ground floor. The building of the former greenhouse is covered with a hip roof with a spherical dome in the center. The buildings have a symmetrical composition. A regular park was created near the palace, which descended down to the Volozhinka River. The park has been partially preserved.
